Training Opportunity - Scent Work 101

Many dogs won't have what it takes to be a Search and Rescue K9, but most dogs that are willing to work for food will enjoy the game of searching for their snacks! Scent Work can be a very rewarding activity for both dog and handler!

Copper Pines Boarding & Training Center in Osakis has partnered with Birchwood K9 to offer Scent Work 101 - an introductory class for dogs (and their owners) that want to explore this awesome sport!

Kick off your journey into the exciting world of scent detection! This 6-week class focuses on building excitement and curiosity for scent work, teaching handlers the basics of timing, rewards, and observing natural dog behavior. Dogs will begin forming positive associations with target odors like birch, clove, or food, sparking their drive to search.

Highlights:

  • Learn the fundamentals of scent work in a warm, cozy environment.

  • Start simple games like the Scent Box to sharpen your dog's skills.

  • Perfect for beginners and a great way to bond with your dog this winter!
